macOS Window Manager

Snap windows.
Save whole workspaces.

Every window manager can snap. RippleSnap also remembers your entire desk — which apps, which windows, where — and rebuilds it with one key. Dock your laptop and your desk restores itself.

Drag toward the top… …pick a layout… …and it snaps into place.

Snapping that goes further

Six ways to place a window, and an engine that handles the parts other apps ignore.

Drag-snap with a layout palette

Edges give halves, corners quarters. Drag to the top and a palette of layouts drops down — thirds, priority center, four columns, yours.

Snap assist

Placed one window in a layout? The remaining slots offer your other windows as one-click chips. Esc dismisses, or just keep working.

Layouts that adapt

Apps enforce minimum sizes — Xcode won't be a narrow column. RippleSnap learns each app's limits, warns before the drop, and re-balances the layout instead of overlapping.

Multi-monitor brains

Profiles remember each display setup separately. Unplug the monitor and layouts adapt; plug it back in and they restore automatically.

Rules, schedules, triggers

Slack always opens in the right third. Deep Work applies at 9:00 on weekdays. Steam opens and your Game profile follows.

Undo for your desktop

Every apply snapshots your windows first. One key rewinds; a timeline holds the last ten states. Off-screen windows get a rescue button.

Profiles: your desk, on a key

Save your arrangement as “Dev”, “Focus”, “Game”. Applying one launches the apps that are closed, restores the minimized, and places every window — even the stacking order comes back the way you saved it.

  • ⌃⌥Space opens a switcher with live layout miniatures
  • Each profile can hold one arrangement per display setup
  • Hide or quit everything else when you switch — a true fresh start
  • Scriptable: ripplesnap://apply/Dev from Shortcuts or Raycast

Design your own layouts

The built-in palette is just the start. Open the designer, click cells to split them, drag the boundaries, and save any arrangement — half columns, stacks, grids. Custom layouts get snap assist and adaptive re-balancing too.

  • Boundaries snap to quarters, thirds and halves
  • Hide built-ins you never use, reorder the palette
  • Every layout works on every monitor shape
